Jubilee Centre for Medical Research (JCMR) is a DSIR recognized research centre established by the Jubilee Mission Hospital Trust. The research activities in the Jubilee institutions are now coordinated by JCMR. This research centre undertakes and promotes research projects funded by governmental agencies, NGOs and those leading to the award of degrees like MD / MS / DNB / DM / Ph.D. etc.
The research department of Jubilee Mission Medical College & Research Institute was functioning since August 2010. Even before that, various faculty members were doing research based on funded and personal research projects. In 2014, these research activities were coordinated under JCMR.
Dr. D. M. Vasudevan, well known Scientist, Dr. B C Roy Award recipient and Biochemistry author took charge as Director-Research of JCMR in April 2014. Five thousand square feet area was furnished for the research lab and a good number of sophisticated equipments were purchased.
JCMR is focused to conduct funded research by faculty as well as scientists working in the research centre. In due course, it is expected to be a medical research centre of national importance. JCMR is a recognised research centre of Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS) for research leading to the award of Ph.D Degree. Presently 17 faculty members are the recognised guides under KUHS. Students from different Universities and Colleges are doing their dissertation in this Centre. JCMR is carrying out research activities in Basic Sciences and interdisciplinary areas apart from Medical Research.
Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India has recognised this as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) with recognition no. 21-TU-V vide letter- F No. 14/665/2014-TU-V dt 4.3.2015
This centre has Ethical Committee for research on human samples and on animals. Institutional Ethics Committee (human) is registered with Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, Govt of India under rule 122DD vide registration no.ECR/835/KL/Inst/2016 dt 05.08.2016. The Animal House is registered with CPCSEA, Govt of India vide No. 1811/PO/Re/S/15/CPCSEA dt 9.6.2015.
